Staying Logged In

When you log in, you will see a box that says Keep me logged in on this device. Here is what happens when you tick it, and when you don't.

If you tick the box

  • You stay logged in for 7 days, even if you close the website or turn off your device.
  • The 7 days start over every time you use the site: open a page, click a link or send a form. Visit at least once a week and you won't have to log in again.
  • Best for: your own phone, tablet or computer that nobody else uses.

If you leave the box empty

  • You are logged out when you close your web browser (the app you use to visit websites, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge).
  • You are also logged out if you don't use the site for 2 hours. Every page you open starts the 2 hours over.
  • Best for: a shared or public device, such as a family computer or one at the gym.

Either way, you will need to log in again if:

  • You click Log Out (top right corner of the page).
  • You use a different device or a different web browser. Each one needs its own login.
  • Your web browser is set to erase website information when it closes. Some browsers have a privacy setting that does this. If you keep having to log in, check that setting.

Keep your account safe

While you are logged in, anyone using your device can see your information and make changes, just as if they were you.

On a shared or public device:

  • Leave the Keep me logged in box empty.
  • Click Log Out when you are done.
  • Close the web browser.
